Where we heli-hike

Heli-Hiking in the Adamants

Our six heli-hiking areas are located in western Canada's Columbia Mountains. Less known than the Canadian Rockies, the Columbias are comparable in height, ruggedness, and uniquely alpine features. The challenging access to these peaks has kept them out of the radar of tourism; our helicopters allow us to share this remarkable terrain with our guests.

We heli-hike in five of the Columbias’ most resplendent sub-ranges: the Adamants, the Monashees, the Bugaboos, the Bobbie Burns, and the Cariboos. Each offers spectacular vistas, access to ancient glaciers, geological features, brilliant alpine lakes, wildlife, bountiful wildflowers: in essence, pristine mountain wilderness. Each of our areas can accommodate hikers of all levels of experience and fitness.

Adamants Sub-Range
A range composed of metamorphic marbles and diorites, the Adamants were named by frustrated gold seekers who, in the late 1800s, laboriously chipped away at their adamantine (diamond-like) rock. The Adamants offer ridge hikes and meadow walks beneath spiky rock pinnacles.

Bobbie Burns Sub-Range
Hiking possibilities in the Bobbie Burns, named for the renowned Scottish poet, are nearly endless: deep river basins, meadows of wildflowers, icy crystalline lakes, and ancient glaciers are just some of the inspiring alpine features awaiting exploration.

Bugaboos Sub-Range
The Bugaboos are perhaps best known for their defining majestic spires. An historic destination for climbers, the difficult access has prevented recreational hikers from entering this wondrous mountain terrain. As with our other hiking areas, lush meadows, bubbling creeks, awesome glaciers and ridge walks are just the beginning of what awaits our guests.

Cariboos Sub-Range
The Premiers, a Cariboos sub-range, is surrounded by one of Western Canada’s largest ice-fields, a near-Antarctic marvel. As such, the Cariboos offer abundant opportunities to explore and observe glaciers, waterfalls, glacial lakes and rushing streams.
